Deepak was born in 1989, His father Sri Gopal M.G.Desai is a Tabalji who was groomed at the renowned GanayogiPanchakshara Gawai’s Veereshwara Punyashrama, Deepak was initiated into tabla by his father and later he began histutelage under internationally renowned tabla exponent, Pt. Ravindra Yavagal in the year 1998. Deepak is a Graduate inScience and a Gold Medalist Master Graduate in Music. In the year 2007, he won the first prize in the prestigious All IndiaRadio National Level Music Competition in the category of Hindustani Instrumental Tabla. Recognizing this achievement, ITCSangeeth Research Academy awarded him the prestigious Pt. Nikhil Ghosh Memorial Promising Artist Award in 2007. Deepakis a B-High graded artist in All India Radio, Bangalore, He regularly performs at AIR and Doordarshan. Deepak passed VidwatTabla examinations held by KSEEB, Govt. of Karnataka and Visharada examination by Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya. Among afew reputed Artistes and platforms he has played are NCPA hall-Mumbai, Pt. Indudhar Nirody, Pt. Parameshwar Hegde, Smt.Aditi Upadhyaya, Pt.Nagaraj Havaldar to name a few, At present Deepak is a Freelance Tabla performer and Teacher.
